Dr. Apazidis attended Harvard University as an undergraduate. While studying there, he majored in biological sciences and his honor’s thesis was on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease. While at Harvard he was cross enrolled at MIT where he studied military science was a member of the Army’s Paul Revere Battalion. He graduated from both institutions simultaneously and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US Army, in which he served after college.

After graduating from Harvard with honors, and completing his Army service, Dr. Apazidis had the opportunity to work with several orthopedic companies as a consultant in Manhattan. During this experience, he gained a specific interest in orthopedic spine surgery and decided to return to Boston and attend Boston Medical School

After graduating from medical school, Dr. Apazidis began residency training in Newark, New Jersey at the Rutgers University Program. He selected this program, particularly because he had the opportunity to learn from several renowned spine surgeons available there.

After completing residency, Dr Apazidis was accepted for a fellowship at New York University Hospital for Joint Disease under Dr. Thomas Errico. As a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Dr. Apazidis stands amongst the elite in the field of orthopedics. The FAAOS designation distinguishes orthopedic surgeons from other healthcare specialists as the leaders of the musculoskeletal health team with the level of skills, training, experience, and professionalism consistent with the high standards established by the Academy.
